ACC rivals hit the hardwood tonight in Kentucky when the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are on the road to face the Louisville Cardinals. The Demon Deacons are hot off an 82-79 victory over Charlotte at the Spectrum Center on Dec. 17. It was Wake Forest’s fifth win in a row and brings their season record to 11-1. Tonight is their first ACC conference clash of the season.

On the flip side, the Cardinals are 7-4, but have lost two of their last three and three of their last five games. In their most recent game, Louisville lost 82-72 to Western Kentucky on the road. After starting the season 5-1, the Cardinals have stumbled of late and could use a win here to get back in the groove.

Wake Forest vs. Louisville Prediction and Pick

Despite their recent struggles and 7-4 record, the Cardinals are favored by 5.5 points in this conference showdown. Even after losing to the Hilltoppers in a game they never led. They currently have the 213th ranked scoring offense with 70.8 points per game this season and the 127th ranked scoring defense. Louisville does rebound well with 41 boards per game but will need to pick up the pace on offense to live up to their status as betting favorites here.

The Demon Deacons have not been struggling on offense and are 26th in the nation in scoring offense. They came out to a 23-8 lead in their last game against Charlotte and look locked in right now. Their defense, however, almost let them down and blew that massive lead. They won thanks to a game-winning trey by Isaiah Mucius.

While the Cardinals are usually dangerous at home, this is still a team that has lost three of their last four games. Those include losses to DePaul and Western Kentucky who are inferior teams to Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have been explosive on offense and are playing too well for the Cardinals to hang with tonight.

Pick: Wake Forest +190 to win
