Wake Forest and North Carolina State meet on Saturday night in hopes of keeping faint New Years Six bowl hopes alive.

The Demon Deacons got blasted against Louisville last weekend as the team couldn't avoid mistakes, leading to eight turnovers in a 48-21 loss. Wake was outscored 35-0 in the third quarter which was a big part of the defeat, but now must turn its attention to a stout North Carolina State team that is trending back upwards after going to MJ Morris midway through the Virginia Tech game last week, leading to a win.

Can Morris win in his first career start? He revitalized the Wolfpack offense in relief, but will be going up against a typically high powered Wake offense on Saturday night. Here are the odds for this one:

Wake Forest vs. North Carolina Odds, Spread and Total

Wake Forest vs. North Carolina State Betting Trends

  • Wake Forest is 6-2 against the spread (ATS) this season
  • North Carolina State is 2-6 ATS this season
  • North Carolina State is 0-2 ATS as an underdog this season
  • Wake Forest is 4-2 ATS as a favorite this season

Wake Forest vs. North Carolina State Prediction and Pick

Morris came in mid-game last week against Virginia Tech as the offense continued to sputter without Devin Leary, but the freshman gave a spark, completing 20-of-29 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns.

He'll be going up against veteran quarterback in Wake's Hartman, who is fresh off one of the worst performances of his career, committing six turnovers of his own in the loss to Louisville. Will he bounce back against the Wolfpack's talented defense?

Unlike Louisville's defense, that is adept at rushing the passer and getting into the backfield, the Wolfpack isn't as strong in this department, outside the top 100 in sacks generated. Wake's slow mesh RPO offense may find more success against the Wolfpack than it did last week and find the likes of AT Perry and Donovan Greene downfield.

It's worth noting that the Wolfpack forced Hartman into three interceptions last year in a thrilling 45-42 Demon Decans win, but with Morris set to make his first start of his career and a full week of prep on him, I expect Wake to take of business on the road.
