The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are undefeated! However, they've only beaten the Old Dominion Monarchs, the Norfolk State Spartans and the crumbling Florida State Seminoles.

For the Virginia Cavaliers, it has been a 2-1 start to the season that has seen them put up a lot of points, scoring a season-low of 39 last week against the No. 21 UNC Tar Heels. The Demon Deacons have scored plenty of points as well, scoring their season-low of 35 last week against the Seminoles.

Wake Forest running back Christian Beal-Smith has averaged nearly six yards per carry and will look to have continued success against the Cavaliers 200th-ranked rushing defense that has allowed 200.7 rushing yards per game.

Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong has averaged 432.7 passing yards per game and will attempt to throw for 400 or more passing yards against a Wake Forest defense that has allowed just 182.7 passing yards per game.

Here are the odds for this ACC matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

  • Virginia is 5-0 against the spread in its last five games as a favorite.

Wake Forest vs. Virginia Prediction and Pick

These are two high-scoring offenses, with Wake Forest averaging 39.3 points per game and Virginia averaging 41.3. The Demon Deacons’ defense will face its toughest test yet in the Cavaliers, a team averaging over 100 more total yards of offense this season. Armstrong has thrown for 1,298 yards and 11 touchdowns in three games, but the Wake Forest pass defense can possibly keep him in check.

If Wake Forest can control the football and the possession, as it did last week against Florida State, the Demon Deacons should be able to keep it close.

I’ll take the Demon Deacons on the spread at +4, and I think they are a worthwhile pick on the moneyline, too, at +155.
