Walker Buehler Looks to Strengthen Cy Young Resume vs. Braves
Jacob deGrom looked like a shoe-in to win the NL Cy Young award throughout the first half of the MLB season, but with the New York Mets ace being sidelined for the entire second half, Walker Buehler has stepped in as the cream of the crop in the National League.
He leads all of major league baseball with a 2.02 ERA, and he also sports an absolutely stellar 13-2 record. In his last nine starts, he has only allowed two runs twice, one run four times, and he has three starts during that stretch where he pitched a shutout.
He gets the start for the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight and WynnBET has them set as -190 favorites against the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are coming in as +160 underdogs and the total for the game is set at 7.5 runs.
WynnBET also had player props set for the game, and Buehler’s earned run total is set at 2.5. The under, which is set at -150, is my favorite bet on the MLB board for Tuesday night. Buehler hasn’t allowed three earned runs since his start against the Miami Marlins on July 5th.
In 26 starts this season, the 27-year old has only allowed three runs or more on five separate occasions. This will be the first time this season that Buehler will face Atlanta.
Charlie Morton gets the start for the Braves. He enters the game with a 12-5 record and a 3.60 ERA. Morton has faced the Dodgers once this season. He gave up four hits and two earned runs across five innings on June 5th.
Barring a collapse in the last month of the MLB season, Buehler should win the Cy Young award for the first time in his young career.
