Warriors Jump Suns in Latest NBA Championship Odds
By Matt De Saro
The race towards the NBA Finals is heading up with the second round of playoff action underway. While eight teams remain, the odds suggest that one of two are overwhelming favorites to take home the Larry O'Brien trophy.
The Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns have been jockeying back-and-forth for the top spot on the odds board for some time. Heading into Monday’s games, the Warriors hold the slightest of leads over the Suns.
Here are the current odds at WynnBET Sportsbook for the 2022 NBA Championship.
Latest Odds to Win the NBA Finals
- Warriors +220
- Suns +225
- Bucks +450
- Celtics +600
- Heat +650
- 76ers +1400
- Mavericks +2200
- Grizzlies +2500
It makes sense for the Warriors to hold down the top spot as they're playing the consensus worst team left in the playoffs based on the odds. While the Memphis Grizzlies are far from a bad team, they may be outclassed in the semis against Golden State, especially if Ja Morant isn't healthy.
Memphis snagged a Game 2 win at home, but the Warriors responded by beating the Grizzlies by 30 points in Game 3. It seems all Memphis managed to do with that win was kick a hole in the side of a hornet’s nest.
This series heads back to Golden State on Monday night for Game 4. The odds heavily favor the Warriors who are -525 to win the series after destroying Memphis in Game 3.
The spread is 10 in what could shape up to be another very rough night for the road team. The Warriors hadn’t won a game by double digits since Game 2 of the Nuggets series before Saturday night, but I have a feeling that Game 3 was just the jumping-off point for a run to the Conference title series.
The Suns, meanwhile, could be in a spot of trouble heading into Game 5 of their series against the Mavericks. After dominating Game 1 and 2, the Suns have lost two in a row on the road. Chris Paul had an awful night with five points and seven assists in just 23 minutes. I fully expect them to bounce back against the Mavs, but they have to start tonight with a bounce-back performance from Paul.
