Washington State vs. Utah Prediction, Odds and Spread foe College Football Week 4
By Thomas Snodgrass
The Utah Utes have lost two games in a row, losing the Beehive Boot to BYU and an overtime thriller to San Diego State. The Utes will look to score their first win against an FBS opponent this week against the Washington State Cougars.
The Cougars are in a similar situation, having their only win coming from an FCS opponent, the Portland State Vikings. Washington State gott pummeled last week by USC. The Cougars would lose easily to a Trojans’ team going through a change at head coach and a quarterback coming off the bench to replace Kedon Slovis.

Washington State vs. Utah Prediction
Both Washington State and Utah have been unspectacular, and that’s putting it nicely.
The Utes will turn to new quarterback Cameron Rising this week. Rising replaced Charlie Brewer in the shootout against San Diego State last week and did a better job of finding the endzone, throwing for three touchdowns. The new quarterback will get to face the Cougars 226th-ranked passing defense that has allowed 312 passing yards per game.
The Mike Leach-air assault days for Washington State are over, and they will have to depend on their running game. While Utah has a solid passing defense, its rushing defense is considerably weaker, so I would expect a lot of running back Max Borghi in this one. The Cougars will need to control the running game and the clock to survive.
I don’t like the way either team has kicked off their 2021 season, but I believe the spread is a little too steep for the Utes to cover.
I’ll say that Washington State can survive enough to hang within two touchdowns. I’ll take the Cougars at +15 on the spread.
