Weber State vs. Utah State Prediction and Odds for Monday, December 19 (Ashworth and the Aggies go Bombs Away)

The Utah State Aggies have been one of the highest scoring teams in the entire country this year and they’re still undefeated at 9-0. The Mountain West will be a tough conference this year and they look like they could come out on top of it when it’s all said and done in March. They’ve got a long road to that point and their next stop is this non-conference matchup with Weber State.
The Wildcats got a big win their last time out over Cal Poly, but are 4-7 on the season and are big underdogs on the road tonight.
Let’s take a look at the odds for some Monday night college hoops.

These teams couldn’t be more different on the offensive end of the court. Weber State is 311th in the country in points per game, 66.5 and Utah State is fifth, 88.2. The Aggies are also shooting 50.9% from the field and 45.7% from three, fifth and first in the country. Weber State is shooting worse from the field than Utah State does from three.
Steven Ashworth and Taylor Funk are the catalysts for the Aggies. Ashworth is averaging 18.4 points and 4.8 assists on 55.2% shooting from the field, 54.5% from three and 87.2% from the free throw line. Funk is 45%, 46%, and 86% shooting splits and averaging 16.3 a night. This team just absolutely shoots the lights out and is capable of burying anyone with a barrage from deep. They’re making nearly 12 threes a game.
Utah State doesn’t just shoot it great, they also play at a fast pace, 29th in team possessions per game, and that makes a team that relies on shooting have much less variance than if they played slower. Even if they go cold, they just get so many opportunities that eventually the dam breaks. That’ll be the case tonight and they’ll drown Weber State with a barrage from deep.
