After two straight weeks of less than stellar golf tournaments, the PGA Tour ramps back up with the next "elevated" event, this week's Wells Fargo Championship.

So far this season, Jon Rahm and/or Scottie Scheffler have been near auto bets any time the two are competing but this week's tournament has a special twist to it; both are sitting out. That means for the first time in 2023 we have a strong field to watch and bet on without the two juggernauts looming over the rest of the competitors.

Let's dive into the odds to win the event and then I'll give you my best bets.

Odds to Win Wells Fargo Championship

Best bet: Cameron Young +2000

Cameron Young has still been seeking his first PGA Tour victory after racking up several runner up finishes. I'm calling my shot. Now is the time for him to get it done, largely due to Quail Hollow being the perfect fit for his style of golf.

Driving distance is one of the most important traits to have at this track, and Young ranks third in driving distance and 12th in strokes gained: off-the-tee. Young also ranks 18th in strokes gained: approach, which is the second most important stat at Quail Hollow.

His putting can abandon him at times, but he gained gained strokes with his putter in three of his last four starts, which could all lead to his first win on Tour.

Justin Thomas Top 5 +450

Justin Thomas has struggled in the early goings this season, but now is the time to buy low on him, especially considering he's returning to the course where he won his first major championship, the 2017 PGA Championship.

JT's approach numbers are still strong, but it's his putter that has let him down. He's gone through dips with his putting game in the past and now that he's taken the past few weeks off, I'm banking on him figuring out his flat stick. If he has, he's going to compete this week.

I love him to finish in the top 5 as a buy low spot.

Cam Davis Top 10 +650

Sticking with the theme of golfers who are long off the tee, Cam Davis ranks 17th in driving distance and 15th in strokes gained: off-the-tee. He's also entering this event in good form, finishing T17 or better in three of his last four starts including a T7 at his last event, the RBC Heritage.

Much like the rest of the guys we're betting on this week, we need to hope he gets hot with his putter. But, I always say it's better to bet on good ball striking and hope for a strong putting performance, than bet on good putters and hope they get hot with their ball striking.

Cameron Champ Top 20 +450

It's the week of Cameron's! Cameron Young to win, Cam Davis Top 10, and now Cameron Champ Top 20. I don't know what it is about people named Cameron, but they can hit the crap out of a golf ball.

Champ enters tied with Young for driving distance while coming in at 23rd in strokes gained: off-the-tee. He's also coming off a strong T8 finish at the Mexico Open, so if there's any time to bet on Champ it's now. He's in good form and he gets to compete on course where his distance with his driver is going to give him a leg up on the competition.
