Tuesday Night MAC-tion continues in Week 12 with a clash between two in-state and division rivals. Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan are both jockeying for spots in the MAC West. The problem is they are fighting for who finishes in last place, not first. This doesn't mean the two are bad teams, however. The MAC West is very competitive this season and both the Eagles and Broncos have winning records despite their spots in the standings. 

The Eagles enter this game as four-point home underdogs coming off a loss to the Ohio Bobcats. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Eagles and leaves them with a 6-4 record. Ben Bryand had a very busy day in the loss, completing 41 of 57 passes for 354 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Not the most impressive statline for a 57-pass game and that is exactly why they lost. 

Western Michigan had better luck in Week 11 against a much worse Akron Zips team. This game was worryingly close with a 45-40 final score. The Broncos rallied on the back of Sean Tyler’s three touchdowns. One on the ground, one in the air, and another off a kickoff return.

The Eagles will play their first game against an in-state rival this week and begin their quest for the “Michgan MAC Trophy. The Trophy is given to one of the three teams in the Wolverine  State to compete in the MAC. 

This game is big for these two team’s chances to win the division too. With a win, each team would move to 7-4 on the year and 4-3 in the MAC West. Depending on what the other teams do, this could vault the Eagles or Broncos into third place in the West division. If CMU and NIU both lose, the teams would be in striking distance of the MAC West crown. 

These two teams are pretty evenly matched and have a lot to play for in this game. The offense will be the name of this game and I think that Ben Brynard will find more success on the scoreboard. Bet the over on the likely shootout between in-state rivals.
