In what feels like five short years, Sean McVay has gone from the offensive coordinator for the 8-7-1 Washington Redskins to the coach for the Super Bowl favorites. As is the case with many NFL coaches, it has been an up and down road for McVay. But he never stayed down long. Now he is one win away from bringing the first Super Bowl victory to the city of angels since the Los Angeles Raiders won in 1983. While the Rams have won a Super Bowl before, they never did it while based in LA.

They have been to the big game since their move to LA and McVay had a lot to do with that run. He became the youngest head coach in NFL history to bring his team to the Super Bowl in 2019. Despite losing to the Patriots, it was clear that something special was brewing in LA and McVay was the catalyst. Personally, I believe that a young, enthusiastic, and outside-the-box HC is preferable to an old-school guy who has been doing the same thing for 40 years. This is McVay's last chance to beat out Mike Tomlin as the youngest coach to win a Super Bowl at 36 years old. Interestingly, Zac Taylor would also be one of the youngest coaches to win a Super Bowl should the Bengals come away with an upset.

McVay would also be the guy who took an aging Matthew Stafford and reminded NFL fans why he was the No. 1 draft pick in 2009. Now 33 years old, Stafford looks better than ever and finished in the Top 5 in passing yards, touchdowns, and QBR.

A win would be the second in franchise history and would cement McVay as a head coach in the league for the next few decades. Speaking of cement, McVay would also earn one additional honor should the Rams win the Super Bowl next weekend. A cement statue podium has already been erected in the “Cradle of Coaches” in anticipation of McVay’s addition. The legendary statue garden at Miami University honors 11 alumni who eventually went on to be legends on the coaching side. A win on Feb. 13 would guarantee his addition to the legends enshrined there including John Harbaugh and Woody Hayes.
