The NHL doesn't mess around when it comes to finding out the official order for their 2022 Draft.

Just a couple of weeks after the regular season, amidst the first round of the playoffs, the NHL quietly held its draft lottery for the teams who missed out on the postseason.

Here are the official order from picks No. 1 through No. 16. The postseason results will determine position of picks No. 17 through No. 32.

Who Has the 1st Overall Pick in 2022 NHL Draft?

The Montreal Canadiens finished with the worst record in the NHL this season at 22-49-11, just one year removed from playing in the Stanley Cup Finals. They entered the draft lottery with the highest chance to win the overall pick at 18.5%. Luckily for them, they won the lottery.

The Canadiens last had the first overall pick in the NHL Draft back in 1980. They selected Doug Wickenheiser with the pick.

Who Will be the First Overall Pick in 2022 NHL Draft?

There's an easy choice for first overall in the draft. It's going to be Shane Wright, center for the Kingston Frontencas of the Ontario Hockey League. Not only is he the best and most complete player available, but he fills the Canadiens need for a center.

Shane Wright at first overall in a no-brainer, and the Canadiens selecting anyone else with the top pick of the draft would shock the hockey world.

Wright notched 32 goals, 62 assists, and 94 total points in this year's OHL regular season.
