With With 5 in college football officially in the books, let's look back at the three biggest storylines for bettors to apply towards Week 6 in beyond.

Cincinnati Could Legitimately Earn a College Football Playoff Spot

Cincinnati needed to win back-to-back games on the road for a shot to stay alive for the College Football Playoff. After knocking off Indiana in Week 3, the Bearcats responded for the second straight week to knock off No. 9 Notre Dame in South Bend 24-13.

With their fourth straight victory, Cincinnati moves up to No. 5 in the AP Top 25 poll, and as long as they take care of business at home against Temple on October 8th, they should theoretically move up to the top 4 when No. 3 Iowa and No. 4 Penn State match up this weekend in Iowa City.

Cincinnati is 3-1-0 against the spread in 2021, but it feels like semantics at this point, considering they beat Murray State by 35 in Week 2; failing to cover the 36.5 point line.

The Bearcats currently hold the seventh-lowest odds at WynnBET to win the National Championship at +4000. Here's who they trail heading into Week 6.

  • Alabama: +125
  • Georgia: +175
  • Oklahoma: +1500
  • Ohio State: +2000
  • Penn State: +2500
  • Michigan: +3000

Additionally, quarterback Desmond Ridder has moved into third place behind Heisman Trophy favorite Bryce Young of Alabama (+120), and Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral (+300).

The Bearcats are 29-point favorites at home against Temple on Friday evening.

The Pac 12 Conference is Wide Open for the Taking

The former No. 3 team in the country, the Oregon Ducks let one slip away against Stanford in Week 5, falling 31-24 in overtime. It was even stunning that the Cardinal got the game into sudden death to begin with, as Tanner McKee completed a touchdown on an untimed down.

Right now, only three undefeated teams remain in the conference in No. 22 Arizona State, Oregon State, and Utah. With the Ducks going down, the Pac 12, particularly the North Division race gets very intriguing.

Here's how the odds currently stand at WynnBET:

Updated Pac 12 Odds

  • Arizona State: +160
  • Oregon: +225
  • Oregon State: +800
  • UCLA: +800
  • Utah: +1000
  • Washington: +1200
  • Stanford: +2500
  • USC: +4000

Keep your eye on Washington, who despite a 2-3 record overall, are tied with Stanford and Oregon in the loss column and have the most favorable schedule remaining. The Huskies were a preseason team that figured to challenge the Ducks this season, but got off to a horrific start.

Meanwhile, the Cardinal will have a chance for another upset when they take on Arizona State this week as 12-point road underdogs.

Sharps Keep Betting the Badgers and Keep Losing

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

What happens when its "fool me three times?" Shame on everybody?

The Wisconsin Badgers have brought shame to sharp bettors everywhere who continued to turn to them despite the public seeing enough since their late collapse in Week 1 at home against Penn State. After covering the line in their Week 2 win over Eastern Michigan, the Badgers have been blown out by Notre Dame and Michigan after closing as favorites and giving up huge leads late in the 4th quarter. Wisconsin is now 1-3 against the spread so far this year despite being favorites in all four games.

The Badgers' offense currently rank 99th in total yards and 117th in scoring. They're completely stuck in the mud right now.

They'll have a chance to get things going again this week on the road at Illinois when former Badgers head coach Bret Bielema will face his former team.

And guess what, the Badgers are favorites again at -10 over the Fighting Illini.
