When Does the Tour de France Start 2022? (Odds, Predictions, Top Contenders)
By Peter Dewey
The Tour de France is a three-week event that begins on Friday, July 1 and will go through Sunday, July 24.
The Tour de France goes through France, Denmark, Belgium and Switzerland and it ends with the final leg on the Champs-Elysees in Paris. There is an overwhelming favorite in this year's field, but we’re here to give you everything you need to know about betting on the 2022 edition of the event:
Can You Bet on the Tour de France?
You can bet on the Tour de France at several sportsbooks. The last two years, Tadej Pogacar (-140) has won the Tour, and he is looking for a third straight victory as this year’s favorite.
Tour de France Prediction and Pick
Pogacar is an overwhelming favorite and for good reason, but there may be some value on a few of the other cyclists in this year’s event.
The one I think has the most value is Primoz Roglic, who has beaten Pogacar before and has been solid in 2022 with a win at Critérium du Dauphiné.
Roglic was forced out in the opening week of the Tour last year, so this could be a chance where he comes in with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. It’s not going to be easy to pull off the upset, but he certainly is one of the more realistic bets to win the Tour de France.
