The New Orleans Pelicans have spent most of the 2022-23 season without their second best player, as forward Brandon Ingram (concussion) left the team's third game of the season with the injury and has not returned to the lineup.

Ingram carried the Pelicans at times last season, especially in the team's run through the play-in tournament and into the postseason.

With Zion Williamson back, the Pelicans are a team poised to take a leap if Ingram can get back in the lineup healthy. Here is the latest on his recovery from a concussion:

Latest Injury Update for Brandon Ingram

It doesn't look like a return for Ingram is imminent, as he's still in the beginning stages of concussion protocol.

Teams have to be extremely cautious with concussions, and it also doesn't allow for an exact timeline for when Ingram will re-join the team. The longer Ingram sits, the more likely it is that he'll need to ramp up his conditioning to return to the floor.

Brandon Ingram Injury History

Ingram has played over 62 games just once in his career (his rookie season), and he missed time last season with ankle and Achilles injuries.

The Pelicans have to take things slow with Ingram dealing with a head injury, but the hope is he will be able to return to his normal role once he clears concussion protocol.

Since joining New Orleans, Ingram has appeared in 62, 61 and 55 games over the last three seasons. This season, he is averaging 22.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 57.9 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from beyond the arc.
