When Is Fernando Tatis Jr. Coming Back for the Padres?

The San Diego Padres have gotten out to a strong start in the 2022 season, and they've done it without their best player, shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr.

Tatis Jr. broke his wrist in a motorcycle accident during the offseason. The Padres are still in the top 10 of the World Series odds at WynnBET (+1500), but they certainly could surge up that list if Tatis returns and plays at an elite level.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Latest Injury Update

Tatis Jr. has been on the injured list the entire 2022 season, but he is expected to still return at some point in late June.

The Padres didn't get the update they wanted on Tatis' bone scan, but that doesn't rule him out for a late June return. There's no doubt that Tatis will need ample time to ramp up to prepare to play at the Major League level this season.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Complete Injury History

Fernando Tatis Jr. has only played three season in MLB, but he's racked up his fair share of injuries along the way.

2021 Season: Shoulder Subluxation

Tatis was limited to just 130 games last season due to recurrent subluxation of his shoulder, but he still played at an elite level.

The shortstop hit .282 and led the National League with 42 home runs in the 2021 season. He also missed some time with an oblique injury and in the league’s health and safety protocols. 

August 2019: Back Injury

Tatis Jr. had an impressive rookie season, but intended abruptly due to a back injury. The Padres star ended up only appearing in 84 games, but he still hit 22 homers and batted .317. 

April 2019: Hamstring Injury 

Tatis Jr. missed time early in the 2019 season with a hamstring issue.
