When is Franmil Reyes Coming Back For The Cleveland Guardians?
By Josh Yourish
The Guardians (24-25) have been a solid team in their first year under their new name. They're 4.5 games out of first place in the AL Central, and just barely under .500. Jose Ramirez has been incredible and leads their offense in every meaningful statistical category.
Ramirez is only behind Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, and Shohei Ohtani in AL MVP odds at +1000 to win the award at WynnBET Sportsbook. Cleveland needs a running mate for Ramierez and the plan was for Franmill Reyes to fill that role.
Needless to say, that plan has not worked, and now Reyes is on the shelf since May 26th with a hamstring injury.
So, when is Reyes coming back into the fold? Here’s the latest.
Franmil Reyes Latest Injury Update
Oftentimes you hear the adage, “no news is good news” but in the case of Reyes and his return that might not be the case.
Terry Francona to this point has refused to put a timeline on Reyes, so essentially there is no news about when he will return. Making it seem that it could be a long way out, which is surprising as the injury has been described as hamstring tightness.
What news there is from Francona is about the approach the team has been taking with Reyes. They are aiming for him to not just return from the Injured List, but to “have success moving forward.” The approach has also been described as holistic in nature, which all leads me to believe that they are not just trying to fix his hamstring, but also his game before he returns.
I would not expect Reyes back with the Guardians particularly soon, I believe they will be patient with him to try to get the best version of Reyes once his is back in the lineup.
