The Orlando Magic have a plethora of young talent, especially at the guard position, but the team has dealt with unfortunate injury luck over the last two seasons.

That poor luck continued for 2021 first-round pick Jalen Suggs, who sprained his ankle in the team's second game of the season against the Atlanta Hawks.

Suggs had an up and down rookie season, but he was terrific in Orlando's 2022-23 season opener against the Detroit Pistons, scoring 21 points on 8-off-11 shooting, adding three assists and two steals in just 25 minutes.

Between Suggs, Markelle Fultz and Cole Anthony, the Magic have a solid future at the guard spot if they can stay healthy. Here's the latest update on Suggs' return to action this season:

Latest Injury Update for Jalen Suggs

Following his injury against the Hawks, the Magic announced that Suggs had a right ankle sprain after he underwent an MRI. However, there is no exact timetable for his return to the court.

This isn't the first time that Suggs injured his right ankle, as he missed the end of the 2021-22 season after undergoing surgery to fix a stress fracture in his ankle.

That may lead to the team playing things safe with its young guard, especially with Orlando out to a 0-4 start this season. The Magic are now just +550 to make the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament at BetRivers.

Jalen Suggs Injury History

Suggs has dealt with a few injuries in his NBA career. He sprained this same right ankle early in the 2021-22 season, which could have been the start of his issues with the ankle.

Then, Suggs fractured his right thumb, although he wasn't required to have surgery on the injury. It knocked him out for a few weeks in the 2021-22 campaign.

Suggs' rookie campaign came to an end with the stress fracture in his right ankle, and the Magic have to hope that his latest sprain didn't aggravate any previous injury.
