When Is James Harden Coming Back for the Philadelphia 76ers?
By Peter Dewey
The Philadelphia 76ers are down one of their best players for an extended period of time, as guard James Harden is expected to miss a month with a right foot tendon strain.
Harden suffered the injury on Wednesday, Nov. 2 in the team's loss to the Washington Wizards.
This is yet another major injury that Harden has suffered since moving on from the Houston Rockets, as he dealt with a hamstring strain the last two seasons when in Brooklyn with the Nets.
Here's the latest timeline for Harden and when he may be back in the lineup for Philly:
Latest Injury Update for James Harden
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Harden is expected to miss a month with the foot strain, which puts his earliest return date in the first week of December.
The Sixers have already been dealing with the absence of their other star, Joel Embiid, who had missed back-to-back games due to an illness. Now with Harden sidelined, Embiid and Tyrese Maxey will be called upon to pick up the slack.
The Sixers will likely also lean on guard De'Anthony Melton, who was acquired in a trade this past offseason with the Memphis Grizzlies. No one player will be able to replace Harden's production, but the Sixers need to be cautious with the veteran guard so he is healthy for the team's playoff run.
James Harden Complete Injury History
Harden spent the beginning of his career relatively healthy, playing in at least 62 games in every season from the 2009-10 campaign through the 2019-20 season.
However, a hamstring injury limited Harden to just 44 games in the 2020-21 season, and he missed time with the injury again last season.
This season, Harden is off to a strong start, averaging 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 10.0 assists per game while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. The Sixers will hope to stay afloat over the next month with Harden on the sidelines.
