When Is Kyle Lowry Coming Back for the Heat? (Lowry Ruled Out for Game 6)
By Peter Dewey
The Miami Heat took a 3-2 series lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, but they did it without starting point guard Kyle Lowry.
Lowry, who suffered a hamstring injury against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs, returned for Game 3 and Game 4 against the Sixers, but he was ineffective, shooting just 3-for-14 from the field and scoring six points over the two games.
After the team's Game 4 loss, Lowry offered a concerning update on his injury, showing that he still is dealing with some pain in his hamstring.
Miami decided to hold Lowry out of Game 5, starting guard Gabe Vincent in his place.
Kyle Lowry Latest Injury Update
Kyle Lowry has been ruled out for Game 6 against the Sixers due to his hamstring injury.
Prior to Game 5, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra gave an update on Lowry's status, saying he was "day-to-day."
However, it is possible the Heat hold Lowry out for the rest of the series now that they have a 3-2 lead on the Sixers.
"Lowry said following Game 4 that 'the goal is to be out there' for Game 5," the Miami Herald's Anthony Chiang wrote. "But the belief is he may now be forced to miss the rest of the second-round series as the Heat takes a cautious approach with the injury, according to a league source."
If Lowry does miss the entire series, he could return for an Eastern Conference Finals matchup against either the Milwaukee Bucks or Boston Celtics if the Heat close out the Sixers in either Game 6 or 7.
