When Is Lance Lynn Coming Back for the Chicago White Sox?
By Ben Heisler
The Chicago White Sox have treaded water for the first two months of the 2022 season; hovering at or around .500 through the end of May. With the return of starting pitcher Lance Lynn on the horizon, the White Sox add one of the most consistent arms over the last several years back to their rotation.
Lynn underwent surgery in April to repair a tendon in his right knee and is currently on a rehab assignment for the South Siders at Triple-A Charlotte with the Knights.
In his first season in Chicago last year, Lynn started 28 games; finishing the season with a 2.69 ERA and finishing with over 10 strikeouts per nine innings for just the third time in his career.
The White Sox' rotation has remained amongst the best in baseball with Dylan Cease, Lucas Giolito and Michael Kopech all having excellent seasons. Cease is currently the third-shortest favorite to win AL Cy Young at WynnBET Sportsbook at +700.
But with Dallas Keuchel being designated for assignment, the recent call-up of Johnny Cueto, and the continued struggles of Vince Velasquez, the addition of Lynn back to the rotation should make a sizable difference.
Lance Lynn Latest Injury Update
The 35-year old right-hander started for the Knights on Sunday, going three scoreless innings for the White Sox highest minor league affiliate. He gave up two hits, while recording three strikeouts and no free passes.
He'll likely get another start or two before the White Sox bring him back to the big league club, as Lynn is not eligible to return from the injury list before June 6.
Despite their inconsistencies in 2022, the White Sox are +1500 to win the World Series over at WynnBET Sportsbook. Their odds are tied for the sixth-shortest on the board with the Atlanta Braves.
