When Is Max Muncy Coming Back for the Los Angeles Dodgers?
By Reed Wallach
2021 NL MVP contender Max Muncy has been on the shelf due to an injury this season, when can we expect him back?
Muncy suffered a torn UCL at the end of the regular season in 2021, but started the season on the active roster. However, he has been ineffective this season and the team recently moved him to the Injured List for elbow inflammation.
Muncy was placed on the IL on May 28th after hitting .150 in 41 games this season. What's the latest on the Dodgers slugger? Here is the latest news on Muncy.
Max Muncy Latest Injury Update
Muncy said during spring training that his elbow likely wouldn't be 100% this season due to his elbow, but he still started the season. He admitted that he may have been to quick to return to the lineup after the injury. “ don’t know," Muncy told Bill Plunkett. "Maybe. Maybe not. I don’t know if I have a good answer for that one.”
“I wouldn’t say it’s gotten worse. It’s one of those things where it’s been there all year," Muncy continued. "Then I try to make a play running into the net and jam up my elbow a little bit. It’s kind of flaring up. So if there was ever a time to maybe take a step back and give it a chance to rest up, now is definitely it.”
Muncy later noted that he doesn't expect an extended period on the IL, noting that he needed rest more than anything. With that being said, there is no timetable for him to return to the lineup after he was officially put on the Injured List on May 28th.
Even without Muncy, the Dodgers remain the World Series favorite at WynnBET Sportsbook, sitting at +475.
