When Is Myles Turner Coming Back for the Indiana Pacers?
By Peter Dewey
Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner was on track to enter the 2022-23 season healthy, but he has yet to play in a game this season after suffering a sprained ankle in pregame warmups before the team's season opener.
Turner landed on a ball boy and rolled his ankle, an unfortunate injury for one of the game's best shot blockers.
The Pacers have to be concerned with Turner's injury history, as the team could look to trade him (if he's healthy) this season. The Pacers are expected to be in a rebuilding phase and Turner is in the final season of his contract.
Here's the latest on when he could return to action for Indiana:
Latest Injury Update for Myles Turner
Turner reportedly was expected at least a week with the injury, putting his earliest chance to return to action on Friday, Oct. 28 against the Washington Wizards.
However, it's possible that he could miss more time if the injury is still bothering him.
The Pacers are expected to be one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference this season, sitting at +2600 to make the play-in tournament at BetRivers.
Jalen Smith and Goga Bitadze are the primary beneficiaries of Turner's absence, and they'll pick up the slack for Indiana at center until he returns.
Myles Turner Recent Injury History
Turner missed a significant chunk of the 2021-22 season with a stress reaction in his left foot, a concerning injury for a big man.
Injuries have really shortened the last two seasons for the Pacers big man, as he's played in just 89 games since the start of the 2020-21 campaign. Turner dealt with ankle, toe, shoulder and hand injuries in the 2020-21 season, appearing in just 47 games.
Indiana is hoping that his ankle injury is just a minor issue as the team looks to compete for a play-in spot in the Eastern Conference.
