When Is Walker Buehler Coming Back for Los Angeles Dodgers?
By Reed Wallach
The bumps and bruises keep coming to the Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff.
The Dodgers have put Walker Buehler on the injured list with a flexor strain in his right elbow. The right hander has dealt with this in the past, and Los Angeles is taking the proper precautions to keep its ace healthy for a stretch run. The first place Dodgers will need to tread water for the foreseeable future without Buehler, but just how long?
Here's the latest:
Walker Buehler Injury Update
The Dodgers are expecting Buehler to be out a while, at least six-to-eight weeks with this elbow injury.
Buehler had Tommy John surgery in 2015, and he won't be throwing for six-to-eight weeks according to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts as the team hopes he can heal up in time for another Pennant run. However, this is a significant layoff and can be an ominous sign for his availability for the rest of the season. Take note of Roberts saying "as of now" he believes the righty will be back this season.
You can expect Buehler, who is 6-3 with a 4.02 ERA this season, to be back as early as late August or early September on this timeline.
The Dodgers will hope to get a lift from Clayton Kershaw, who was just activated off the IL last week with a back injury, but this is a significant blow to the World Series favorites at WynnBET Sportsbook (+425).
