The Boston Bruins are in the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year after finishing fourth in the Atlantic Division.

Boston, who ended the regular season with a 51-26-5 record, will take on the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round. The Hurricanes will be missing starting goalie Frederick Andersen but Iain MacMillan still believes Carolina has the edge.

As one of the most successful franchises in NHL history, the Bruins have had plenty to celebrate. Let's take a look at their storied playoff history:

When Was the Last Time the Bruins Won the Stanley Cup?

The Bruins have won the Stanley Cup six times in club history, with the most recent being in 2011. Most of their success came decades ago though, as they also won the Cup in 1929, 1939, 1941, 1970, and 1972. So yeah, they've been around a while.

They've made the Stanley Cup Finals an obscene 20 times, with their most recent losses coming in 2013 and 2019.

Can the Bruins win their first championship in over 10 years and what are their odds to do so?

Bruins Odds to Win Eastern Conference, Stanley Cup

WynnBET Sportsbook currently has the Bruins listed at +1000 to win the Eastern Conference and +2000 to win the Stanley Cup.

These odds give Boston the sixth-best chances to win the East and ninth-lowest to win a championship, so they've got an uphill battle to climb if they're to capture their seventh title.

Boston allowed the fourth-fewest goals per game on the year and will need to rely on that strong defense to make a run. If the Bruins can upset Carolina, they'll take on the winner of the Rangers vs Penguins series.
