The NBA's hottest team is the Boston Celtics, who have the No. 2 seed in the 2022 NBA Playoffs.

The Celtics are set to face the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs for the second straight season, but with the seeding flipped. Jayson Tatum has emerged as an All-NBA player while Marcus Smart is the leading candidate to win Defensive Player of the Year this season. However, the team will be without big man Robert Williams for at least part of the series as he recovers from knee surgery last season.

Check out our series preview for more, but let's look back at when the Celtics last won a title.

When Was the Last Time the Boston Celtics Won the NBA Finals?

The Celtics are tied for the most NBA Championships in league history with the Los Angeles Lakers with 17 and haven't won since 2008.

The 2008 team had the 'Big 3' of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen as well as head coach Doc Rivers, knocking off the Lakers in the process. The team returned two years later to fall to LA in the 2010 Finals.

Boston will like to break the tie with LA that they have hold for decades up until the 2020 NBA Finals with a title run this season as the Eastern Conference No. 2 series.

Celtics Odds to Win the NBA Championship, Eastern Conference

The Celtics are +400 to win the Eastern Conference and +1000 to win the NBA Championship at WynnBET Sprotsbook.

The Celts have the best net rating in the league since the calendar flipped to 2022, +12.7 which is nearly 4 points better than any other team in the league. While noting that this isn't an indicator of a title team, the Celtics league best defense and superstar offensive threat Tatum are enough to make a run and compete with the top of the East.

Boston's road is not easy by any means, drawing the Nets in the first round and a potential second round date with the defending champs Milwaukee Bucks, but Boston has looked the part of a title contender since the start of 2022, going 34-12.
