The Edmonton Oilers finished second in the Pacific Division for the third season in a row. 2022 is therefore Edmonton’s third Stanley Cup Playoff appearance in as many years. Leading up to their Round 1 game against the Las Angeles Kings, Edmonton is +2000 at WynnBET Sportsbook to hoist the Cup at the end of the Playoffs. WynnBET also has the Oilers listed at +1000 to win the Western Conference.

Before we get too deep into the 2022 playoffs, let’s take a look back at the Oilers’ playoff history.

When Was the Oilers’ Last Stanley Cup Win?

The Edmonton Oilers have made the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 24 of their 42 seasons since joining the NHL in 1979. Edmonton rose to the top of the league quickly and dominated the NHL throughout the 1980s. The Oilers won the Stanley Cup in their fourth and fifth seasons in the NHL in ‘84 and ‘85. Edmonton went on to win again in ‘87,’88, and 1990. It was an insane run where the Oilers won five championships in their first 10 years as an NHL franchise.

However, things have not gone their way since 1990. It would be 15 years before the Oilers would make it back to the Finals. But, they did back in 2005-06. However, they were bested by the Mighty Ducks in a thrilling seven-game series. The Oilers followed that loss up by failing to even make the playoffs for the next 10 years.

How far can the Oilers go to make a run at the Cup? Will they survive the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs?

Edmonton Oilers Odds to Win 2022 Stanley Cup

It has been 32 years since the Oilers were in possession of Lord Stanley's Cup. If the odds are to be believed, they have a decent chance to get back into the record books in 2022. Edmonton is favored to beat the Kings in Game 1 on their home ice. They are also favored to win the series at -200.

Edmonton enters the Stanley Cup Playoffs on a bit of a hot streak. The Oilers finished the year strong with a 13-3 record in their final 16 games. They beat the Kings twice in that span along with big wins over the Avalanche, Penguins, and Blues.

The Oilers are a well-rounded team with an above-average offense and a decent defense behind them. They shouldn’t have too much trouble with the Kings in the opening round and are a solid bet at their current odds.
