The Sacramento Kings and the NBA Draft Lottery have become synonymous with one another, as Sacramento hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2005-06 season.

Despite that, the Kings are rarely the worst team in the NBA, as they’ve had just two picks land in the top-three over that timespan.

The Kings won the 1989 NBA Draft Lottery, their only win in team history, and selected Pervis Ellison with the No. 1 pick.

Last season, Sacramento selected guard Davion Mitchell with the No. 9 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, but the Kings and their fans are hoping for a little more luck in the lottery in 2022.

Here are the odds for the Kings to get the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft:

Kings 2022 Draft Lottery Odds

The Kings have a 7.5 percent chance of ending up with the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft after finishing the 2021-22 season with a 30-52 record.

Sacramento traded away two lottery picks during the 2021-22 season, guard Tyrese Haliburton and forward Marvin Bagley, in an attempt to re-tool the roster to make the playoffs. The move did not pan out, as the Kings failed to even make the league’s play-in tournament.

Kings NBA Draft Lottery Representative

The Kings will send forward Domantas Sabonis, who was acquired in the Haliburton trade, to be their representative at the 2022 NBA Draft Lottery.

Sabonis played in 15 games for the Kings after the trade and averaged 18.9 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. The Kings are hoping he and De’Aaron Fox will be a strong enough duo to get the team to the playoffs in the 2022-23 season.
