The Brooklyn Nets tumultuous season has still resulted with a playoff berth, but how far can they go now that they have advanced out of the NBA Play-In Game?

The Nets have the star power in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but a myriad of issues including, but not limited too, injuries, vaccine mandates, forced trades and lack of chemistry have held the team back in the 2022 season. However, the team will look to bring home their first NBA Championship in team history, will they be able to survive the tough Eastern Conference bracket?

Before we discuss the Nets prospects of winning a title this season, let's go back and take a look at their championship history.

When Was the Last Time the Nets Won a Championship?

You will have to go back to the ABA to find the last Nets title run. The team hasn't won a championship since 1976, the team's second in three season (they also won in 1974). Back then, it was Julius Erving's team as he led the Nets to championship success before the team moved him to the Philadelphia 76ers to pave the way for them to pay for their entry to the NBA.

The Nets got close to titles in 2002 and 2003 behind the play of Jason Kidd, but came up short to the Lakers and Spurs, respectively. Now, with Durant and Irving, and the potential return of Ben Simmons, Brooklyn will look to bring one home for a team that has never lifted an NBA Championship banner.

Nets Odds to Win the Eastern Conference, NBA Championship

Despite being the No. 7 send the Nets are still looked at as title contenders due to their preseason stature and overwhelming talent on hand. While the season has gone sideways for them compared to preseason projections, oddsmakers at WynnBET Sportsbook of wary of pricing the Nets too far away from the top. Currently, the Nets are +380 to win the Eastern Conference and +600 to win the NBA Championship.

The Nets have a difficult first round series on their hands with the Boston Celtics, who lead the league in net rating dating back to the start of 2022, and a potential second round matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks, who they played last postseason in an epic 7 game series.

Oddsmakers still believe in Durant and Irving, but they will have a difficult path to the team's first ever NBA title.
