As the NHL Playoffs officially kick off today, there's a number of teams well-positioned to make a run and hoist the elusive Stanley Cup.
Hockey has long been thought of as Canada's sport, but American teams have dominated the playoffs in recent history.
Just how long has it been since a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup, anyway?

No Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup since Montreal in 1993. That's an absurd 28-year drought and is the longest stretch without a Canadian championship since a six-year skid stretching from 1935-1941.
Needless to say, this is an unprecedented dry spell and while six Canadian teams have made the Stanley Cup Finals since 1993, none have emerged victorious.
The Montreal Canadiens made the Stanley Cup last year, but they eventually fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning in only five games.
Canadian Teams Odds to Win the Stanley Cup
There are three teams from Canada left in the postseason: the Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Edmonton Oilers.
