When Was the Last Time the Suns Won the NBA Finals?
By Peter Dewey
The Phoenix Suns dominated just about everyone in the 2021-22 season, claiming the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and running away with the best record in the NBA.
Last season, Phoenix snapped a 10-year playoff drought by earning the No. 2 seed in the West, and this year's team is back and hungrier than ever after losing in the NBA Finals to the Milwaukee Bucks last summer.
Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton and company are going to be heavy favorites throughout the playoffs in the West, but can they go where no Suns team has ever gone before?
When Was the Last Time the Suns Won the NBA Finals?
The Phoenix Suns have never won an NBA Finals in their 54 seasons in the NBA. The Suns have made it to the NBA Finals three times, but they lost in all three appearances in 1976, 1993 and 2021.
The Suns returned most of their key rotation players from last year's run to the Finals, and they now have a healthy Chris Paul as well. Paul was injured in the first round against the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
Phoenix is the favorite to hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy at the end of this season, but how short are the Suns' odds exactly?
Suns Odds to Win the NBA Championship, Western Conference
WynnBET Sportsbook has the Suns at +250 to win the NBA Finals this season, and they are a shocking +100 (Bet $100 to win $100) to win the Western Conference. That's right, the Suns are just even money to win the West this season.
That should tell you how high Vegas is on Phoenix, and it's hard to argue with that sentiment. The Suns are fifth in the NBA in offensive rating, third in defensive rating, first in net rating, second in effective field goal percentage and fifth in true shooting percentage?
Need I go on?
This team is extremely well built, and it has the Coach of the Year in Monty Williams. This could be the year that the Suns win their first title in franchise history.
