Where is the 2022 US Open Location? (The Country Club at Brookline History, Past Majors, Scoring)
The 2022 U.S. Open is officially here.
Just like three of the four golf majors (the Masters excluded), the U.S. Open rotates its venue each year. So what is it being hosted in 2022? Let's dive into it, as well as some history including past winners and scoring.
Where is the 2022 U.S. Open?
The 2022 U.S. Open as set to take place at The Country Club, in Brookline, Massachusetts.
This will be the fourth U.S. Open hosted at The Country Club, but it's the first since 1988. The course has also hosted several U.S. Amateurs, and also the 1999 Ryder Cup, which is commonly known as the "Battle of Brookline".
Past Winners at The Country Club
With the last U.S. Open at Brookline last happening back in 1988, there will be no golfers in the field this week who have won the tournament when it was hosted at The Country Club. The past U.S. Open winners here are Curtis Strange (1988), Julius Boros (1963), and Francis Ouimet (1913).
With that being said, that doesn't mean it will be completely without past winners at this course.
Matt Fitzpatrick, whose odds to win this week are set at +2500 at WynnBET, won the 2013 U.S. Amateur, which was hosted at the Country Club. Other golfers who were in that field who will be competing this week includes Corey Conners, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Rodgers, and Bryson DeChambeau.
What Will be the Winning Score at the 2022 US Open?
The last time that the U.S. Open was hosted at The Country Club, Curtis Strange and Nick Faldo went to a playoff, both tied at 6-under par. The two then played a fifth round of stroke play, where Strange shot even par to win with a final score of 6-under par. Faldo shot four-over, to finish at 2-under par.
