For many March Madness bettors, there is no joy greater than picking an underdog. There is just something about picking the correct unlikely outcome among dozens of choices. This March will be no different. It’s just a matter of choosing the right teams. With that in mind, I wanted to look at a few double-digit seeds that I think are a good bet to make it to the Sweet 16.

No. 10 Loyola Chicago Ramblers

Loyola not only has a good matchup against Ohio State in the opening round, but they also have a lot of experience in this tournament. Loyola has a history of being a difficult team during tournament time. As an 11 seed, they went to the Final four three years ago and last year made it to the Sweet Sixteen as an eight seed.

Big ups to Sister Jean and I think that her Loyola Ramblers are a good bet to beat a Buckeyes team that has lost four of their last five games in this opening round. Overall the No. 10 ranked teams in the modern era are winning 60% of their opening-round games.

No. 11 Michigan Wolverines

I have to admit that I was not only surprised to see that Michigan made it to the dance, but that they somehow nabbed an 11 seed. Despite more downs and ups this year, including an untimely suspension of head coach Juwan Howards, the Wolverines are not a team to overlook. Among teams that are seeded No. 10 or below, the Wolverines have the best odds to beat the higher-ranked team they face in the first round. The Colorado State Rams.

The Rams are in fact favored to beat a team seeded five spots lower. Both Kenpom and Teamrankings have the Rams winning this game but I think that Hunter Dickinson is able to take over the entire court and lead the Wolverines to a much-needed win. That would be just the first step towards the Sweet 16 but this team has players who have made a run in the tournament once before. Coach Howard is also no stranger to the pressure that this tournament can bring with it.

No. 10 Davidson Wildcats

The Wildcats enter the tournament having won the A-10 thanks to some world-class three-point shooting and an overall scary offense. Their defense, eh no so much. But, Between Foster Loyer, Hyunjunk Lee, and Lika Brajkovic, they have the firepower to knock off a few favorites. They face off in the first round against Michigan State and are just 1.5 point underdogs at WynnBET Sportsbook. Certainly worth a look.
