I’m happy that Matthew Stafford got his Super Bowl ring after being stuck in Detroit for his entire career prior. While it is all part of the game, it still sucks when an all-time great player never wins a championship. Just ask Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Dan Marino, Barry Bonds, and Ken Griffey Jr. for a few examples. Stafford is as thrilled as anyone to not make that list.

This mental conversation got me thinking about which veteran NFL quarterbacks are in the best spot to lead their team to a Super Bowl in 2023. With that in mind, let's take a look at a few veteran quarterbacks who could lead their teams to victory a la Stafford and Tom Brady the year before.

Aaron Rodgers

The most obvious choice here is Aaron Rodgers; perhaps the "active" GOAT now that Tom Brady seemingly retired.

I was shocked to see how much Rodgers had left in the tank the previous season when he won the MVP. But he came out and did it again! Truly the stuff of legends.

Throughout the bulk of the 2021 season, the Packers were winning and considered the favorite to win the Super Bowl. While it didn’t pan out that way, the oddsmakers at WynnBET Sportsbook believe he's likely to find a new destination. The most likely team? The Denver Broncos, who opened at +1500 to win the Super Bowl despite finishing 7-10 a season ago.

Russell Wilson

I don’t see Wilson staying in Seattle another year. It was the worst year the franchise has had since Wilson signed and it just feels like the party is over with Wilson and Pete Carroll the only two left to clean up. Actually, I expect both to be gone and a full rebuild in Seattle.

Veteran players like Wilson would only accept trades to possible contenders and Wilson already stated his desire to join the New Orleans Saints or Las Vegas Raiders. I think both would be a good fit for him but the Raiders are much more intriguing. They have a killer run game and a ton of young talent that really need some kind of veteran leadership.

The Seahawks currently hold +5000 odds to win the Super Bowl over at WynnBET.
