Chicago and San Francisco prepare for Game 2 of their three game set over the weekend. The White Sox trot out Dylan Cease and San Francisco goes with Logan Webb.

Both squads sit in third in their respective divisions, and both on the outside of the wild card picture looking in. However, San Francisco is the first team out and Chicago has a bit more work to do to get themselves back into contention in the American League.

White Sox vs. Giants Prediction and Pick

Dylan Cease has made 15 starts this season, but his last three have been his best. The White Sox have won all three and Cease has gone five, six, and seven innings -- respectively, only giving up a single run which came in his most recent outing. He also struck out 13 Orioles in that start.

Cease is in the top 3% of the league in strikeout percentage and the top 6% of the league in expected ERA so far this year. Cease actually has the second best pitch in the league with a slider that registers a run value of -16, behind just Nick Pivetta’s 4-seam fastball.

Cease will have to contend with a San Francisco lineup that features Evan Longoria who has been one of the hottest hitters in the majors. The final week of June, Longoria managed a 1.617 OPS with three home runs and six RBI.

Logan Webb has recreated his success from a year ago with a 3.04 ERA and a 3.68 K/BB ratio. Last time out, Webb went six and didn’t allow an earned run against Cincinnati.

Webb is 26 and Cease is just 25, this interleague matchup features two of the best young pitchers in baseball.

Pick: Under 7.5 (-105)
