The 41-42 Cleveland Guardians open up a series with the 41-43 Chicago White Sox today at 7:10 PM EST.

Both teams are in need of a series win after recent struggles. Cal Quantrill gets the start for Cleveland after taking a loss to Detroit in his last start. He's 3-0 with a 3.24 record at home, though the Guardians are just 1-3 in his previous four outings.

Chicago turns to Lance Lynn, who gave up five runs to the Twins in his last appearance. He shutout the Giants prior to that but is struggling to find consistency after missing most of the season with injury.

Which squad can get back on track with a win? Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help find out:

Run Line:

  • White Sox -1.5 (+130)

White Sox vs Guardians Prediction and Pick

After rolling through a brutal portion of their schedule to take over first place in the AL Central, Cleveland is scuffling through what was supposed to be an easy stretch. They've lost six of seven and are falling behind Minnesota for the division lead, and the White Sox are suddenly right with them as well.

Thus, this is a critical series for both teams with aspirations of catching the Twins for a playoff run.

In such an important game, I'm inclined to trust Cal Quantrill over Lance Lynn. Quantrill has seven consecutive quality starts at home and impresses with his consistency.

The White Sox lineup has improved of late, but still struggles against right-handed pitching. I anticipate Quantrill's steady play to continue, but I can't say the same for Lance Lynn.

Lynn surrendered five runs in two of his last three outings. In his five appearances, he has just one quality start.

Cleveland has the superior defense and bullpen. With the more consistent starting pitcher, I have to back them at home to kick off this crucial series. Perhaps I'll go down with the ship, but I just can't quit these Guardians.

Pick: Guardians (+100)
