White Sox vs. Royals Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, May 17 (Chicago has a big Edge on the Mound)
By Matt De Saro
AL Central rivals clash on Tuesday in Game 2 of a three-game series between the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals. The White Sox appear to have shed their early-season losing ways. Chicago is slowly but surely climbing the standing in the division after many expected them to run away with the AL Central crown. The White Sox went 8-4 straight up in the lead up to this series and should not have too much trouble with the lowly Royals.
The Royals, on the other hand, continue to play poorly and are not going to challenge many teams at all this year. They already lost two of these to Chicago while they were playing awful baseball. We should see more of the same here now that the White Sox are out of their funk.

White Sox vs. Royals Prediction and Pick
Not only are the White Sox a better team from top to bottom, but they also have a significant advantage on the mound today. Jonathan Heasley will be making his second start of the year for Kansas City after taking a loss to the Rangers on Thursday. While Heasley only gave up one run, he walked four and gave up four runs in 3 ⅓ innings.
Heasley made three starts for the Royals last year and finished with a 4.91 RA and 1.23 WHIP in just 18 innings. He gave up 15 hits in that span and walked three while striking out six. While I see many issues with Heasley’s game, his inability to go deep into starts is my big concern for this game. Mainly because the Royals bullpen has an awful 4.31 combined ERA and 1.40 ERA.
Dylan Cease gets the nod from Chicago to start this game. And while he hasn’t been great to start the year, I think this is a good matchup for him to get back on track. He already beat the Royals once this year with a two-run performance last month. He struck out nine and walked three.
I expect Heasley to get bounced early and the Royals bullpen will continue to struggle against a surging Chicago team.
Pick: White Sox -1.5 (-105)
