White Sox vs. Tigers Prediction and Odds for Friday, September 16 (Total Too Low in Detroit)

The Detroit Tigers’ disappointing season has continued with four straight losses entering Friday’s matchup with the Chicago White Sox, who are still in the hunt for the AL Central title.
Lucas Giolito (10-9. 5.18 ERA) will try to turn around his rough 2022 season with a big performance in this game. He faces Matt Manning (2-2, 3.73 ERA), who has struggled a bit after a strong start to the 2022 season.
Does Chicago take care of business against one of the worst offenses in baseball?

I really don’t love either team in this matchup, as the Tigers are just 25-26 on the run line as home dogs this season and the White Sox are 17-23 on the run line as road favorites.
Normally this would be a matchup where you back Giolito, but he’s been far too volatile this season for me to blindly trust him.
In fact, I am going to fade him a bit and take the OVER 7.5 runs in this matchup.
Giolito has allowed at least two earned runs in six of his last eight starts, pitching to a 5.27 ERA over that stretch. While Manning started 2022 strong, his last three starts are a cause for concern, posting a 7.82 ERA and failing to get through more than four innings in two of them.
The Tigers’ are the lowest scoring offense in baseball, but Chicago has been hot at the dish, ranking second in OPS over the last 15 days. This total is just too low with two average starters on the mound, even though Giolito’s track record would say he is better.
