When both starting pitchers are horrible, should bettors just pound the over or should we look elsewhere for value?

That's the question we must answer today as Lance Lynn of the White Sox takes on Dylan Bundy of the Twins.

Lynn has a 6.97 ERA through six starts and gave up a combined 13 (!!) runs in his last two outings, including surrendering five to these Twins two weeks ago. He's allowed at least five runs in three of his last four starts as the White Sox are running out of patience with the 35-year-old righty.

Bundy, meanwhile, just gave up four runs to the Rangers in his last start though he's been much better at home.

To help find the value in this White Sox vs Twins matchup, here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:

White Sox vs Twins Prediction and Pick

Um, am I missing something? This is genuinely the most confounding total I've seen all year. Lance Lynn just gave up eight runs in his last start and the total for the entire game is set at 7.5?? Excuse me?

We'll take it, though the pure absurdity of this line admittedly gives me pause. I was ready to tell you to take the over when I thought the line would be around 9.0, so being at 7.5 is almost too good to be true.

I don't save receipts though and don't intend to give this gift back. Lynn is among the worst starters in MLB and the Twins have the fourth-highest OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last three weeks. The over is 6-2 in Minnesota's last eight games and I see another high-scoring affair in store, though I also love the Twins here.

The White Sox are perhaps the most disappointing team in MLB. Tony La Russa is an unmitigated disaster, and Chicago is once again wasting a team full of talent thanks to dumb, stubborn decisions designed to remain dumb and stubborn.

For all his faults, Dylan Bundy has been great at home with a 2.10 ERA. Against this pathetic White Sox club, I think he continues to pitch well at Target Field. But not so well that I'm scared of the over. It's 6-1-1 in his last eight starts. Neither bullpen is stellar and neither defense resembles anything close to quality, though Chicago's is the worst in the American League.

Give me the Twins to decimate Lynn in a high-scoring matchup as Chicago's season from nightmares doesn't show any signs of turning around.

Pick: Twins (-119) and Over 7.5 (-110)
