Who are the Sharps, Public Backing in the New Years Day Bowl Early Games?

With a full slate of big-time New Years Day college football bowl games on tap, WynnBET has passed along their latest up-to-date splits for how the betting tickets and money are divided for the spreads, moneylines and totals in today's matchups.

Let's take a look at how all of today's early college bowl games break down,with the latest odds courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook:

Outback Bowl: Penn State vs. Arkansas

Spread:

There's been a major shift in the Outback Bowl opening odds. After opening with the Nittany Lions as 3-point favorites at WynnBET, the line has completely reversed, with Arkansas closing at -3.5.

Both the public and sharps are on the Arkansas side, but not as much as one would expect considering a 6.5-point swing. 56.5% of the bets are on the Razorbacks, with 59.2% of the money backing Arkansas as well.

The total has also moved it's way up from the opening line of 46 to 50.5, with 87.2% of the betting handle on the OVER relative to just 68.7% of the betting tickets.

Just over 50% of the moneyline bets have Penn State pulling off the upset at plus-odds of +135; while 67.8% of the handle has come in on Arkansas to win straight up.

Vrbo Citrus Bowl: Kentucky vs. Iowa

Spread:

  • Kentucky -3 (-115)
  • Iowa +3 (-105)

  • Kentucky -155

Despite only a short 0.5-point swing throughout it's opening, Kentucky has been considered the sharp side of this matchup for the last several weeks according to sources. The Wildcats at -3 have gotten 61.2% of the tickets at WynnBET, but 72.2% of the money has gone on UK as well.

There hasn't been much movement on the total since first opening, moving down just a half-point from 44.5 to 44. Despite 62.1% of the bets coming in on the OVER, the UNDER has received a slight edge in total handle at 52.9%.

On the moneyline, the underdog Hawkeyes at +127 have received 51.6% of the bets, but 82.2% of the money has come in on the Wildcats.

Playstation Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Notre Dame

The final early afternoon match of the day in Arizona has also seen a 3.5-point swing since opening with Notre Dame as early favorites. New Fighting Irish Marcus Freeman will make his head coaching debut against Mike Gundy, who owns the best bowl record amongst college coaches that have played in 10 or more games (10-5 in his career).

Ahead of kickoff, it's now the Cowboys as the new favorites at -1 at WynnBET due to sharp money coming in late to push the game off a pick 'em. 54.7% of the money is backing Oklahoma State, whereas 72.9% of the tickets are on the Fighting Irish.

The total has remained tight at 45.5 throughout, with both the sharps and public in line on the OVER. 78.3% of the tickets are on that side, as well as 74.2% of the money.
