Week 8 for College Football was interesting.

The No. 3 team in the AP Poll, the Oklahoma Sooners, went into halftime down 10-0 to the Kansas Jayhawks. The Jayhawks are 1-6 this season and their only win has come against FCS South Dakota.

A week after defeating the then-No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes, the Purdue Boilermakers lost at home to the Wisconsin Badgers, 30-13. It would appear that there was zero momentum for Purdue after their upset win.

Also, some poor soul out there took the under in the Wake Forest-Army game. The total was set at 54. Wake Forest would win, 70-56.

Some teams lost too much in Week 8.

No. 7 Penn State loses to Illinois, 20-18

Football is a difficult game, but the Penn State Nittany Lions made it look even more difficult on Saturday.

The Nittany Lions defense allowed 356 rushing yards, running back Chase Brown rushing for 222 yards on 33 carries and Josh McCray rushing for 142 yards on 24 carries.

Penn State gained only 227 total yards of offense against the Illinois Fighting Illini. That’s bad enough in any game, but even worse when you lose in nine overtime periods. Nine!

Penn State were set as 23-point favorites on WynnBET Sportsbook

The Nittany Lions are certainly not the No. 7 team in the country.

Wyoming loses to New Mexico, 14-3

The Wyoming Cowboys are not a powerhouse by any means, but they were 20-point favorites over the New Mexico Lobos on WynnBET Sportsbook.

Wyoming’s quarterback Sean Chambers has thrown for less yards every week for five consecutive weeks. On Saturday, the Cowboys had just 3.8 yards per pass compared to New Mexico’s 10.2.

Wyoming has now lost three in a row, and probably won’t be listed as a 20-point favorite again anytime soon.

UAB loses to Rice, 30-24

The UAB Blazers were big 24-point favorites on WynnBET Sportsbook over the Rice Owls, and UAB disappointed.

What was once a respected defense for the Blazers, now a shell of its former self, allowing 30 points to a struggling Rice team. UAB also committed 10 penalties and converted just two of nine third-down attempts.

The C-USA can be an unpredictable conference.
