Arizona and Wichita State are set to meet in Las Vegas on Friday night in a matchup of two teams that are off to differing starts this season despite the same record.

Both teams are 3-0, beating inferior compeittion, but Arizona has won by an average margin of 45, while Wichita State need a Tyson Etienne buzzer beater to knock off Jacksonville State and has won by an average of less than eight points thus far.

Can Zona cover the big spread on Friday night? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook.

Wichita State vs. Arizona Odds, Spread, Total

Spread:

  • Wichita State: +8.5 (-110)
  • Arizona: -8.5 (-110)

Moneyline

  • Wichita State: +295
  • Arizona: -390

Total: 138.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Wichita State vs. Arizona Prediction and Pick

Wichita State should get a boost with their star guard Tyson Etienne likely returning to the lineup in Vegas on Friday night after missing the last two, but I still envision the Shockers running into a buzzsaw in Arizona.

First year head coach Tommy Lloyd has the Wildcats playing fast and efficient on offense and using their length on defense to suffocate opponents.

Zona is playing at a top 100 pace and posting an effective field goal percentage of 58% while also generating the highest assist rate in the country. Nearly three quarters of Arizona's buckets are assisted this season. Lloyd comes from Gonzaga where he helped Mark Few build an offensive powerhouse and is instilling the same principles for his new club.

To be fair, that was against awful competition, and Wichita State is a step up in class, but their roster is ill-equipped to handle Zona' size and offense.

The Shockers are limited on perimeter shooting this season and posted an effective field goal percentage of 45.7%. Now, they face the biggest team in KenPom's average height database who should shut down shots at the rim and run the Shockers off the perimeter.

On the offensive end, I'll trust the likes of Azuolas Tubelis (6'11") and Chrisitan Koloko's (7'1") size to give the Shockers trouble, who have one rotation player taller than 6'8"

Arizona has too much firepower on both ends, and I'll lay the points in what could easily be a pseudo-home game in nearby Las Vegas for Arizona. This is playable up to -9.

PICK: Arizona -8.5 (-110), play to -9
