Wild vs. Hurricanes Prediction and Odds (Two Dominant Goaltenders on Display in Carolina)
By Matt De Saro
The Minnesota Wild are getting hot at the right time and have won seven of their last eight games heading into the weekend. The Carolina Hurricanes will try to slow down the Wild tonight on their home ice in the final meeting between the two likely playoff teams. The Wild came away with a win in the first matchup 3-2 back in February.
One odd thing to note about the Wild’s current hot streak is that four of their last five games have ended in overtime. So while they are winning, the Wild have covered the puck line in just one of their last six games.
Here are the odds for tonight’s matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.
Wild vs. Hurricanes Odds and Total

- Wild +135
- Hurricanes -155

- Wild +1.5 (-190)
- Hurricanes -1.5 (+155)

Wild vs. Hurricanes Prediction and Pick
The Wild may be the hotter team right now, but the Hurricanes have been better overall this year and really are one of the best in the league. They shouldn't be overlooked as one of the best home teams in the NHL at 25-5-4. Their defense is one of the best in the NHL and the Wild could have a hard time breaking through to score. The Wild have proven time and time again that they can rise to any occasion, however.
The biggest issue for the Wild this year has been their goaltending. But, Minnesota took a big step toward alleviating that issue by acquiring Marc-Andre Fleury. In his first two games with the Wild, Fleury is 2-0 with an SV% of .950 and 55 saves.
This is a tough game to call as the Wild are streaking but the Canes are just so good at home. At the end of the day, I’m going to side with the goaltending tonight.
Freddie Anderson is getting the start tonight for the Hurricanes and is having a career year with a .929 SV%. With Anderson expected to start, this game features two elite goalies both playing well of late. This has me leaning towards the under in what I expect to be a close matchup between playoff hopefuls.
Pick: Under 6 -110
