Wild vs. Kraken Prediction and Odds: Seattle Wins Its Second in a Row
By Thomas Snodgrass
The Minnesota Wild (5-1-0) continue their road trip Thursday when they face the Seattle Kraken tonight at the new Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
Cam Talbot (5-0-0, 2.55 GAA, .906 SV%) will be in net after stopping 22 of 24 shots against the Vancouver Canucks Tuesday.
The Kraken (2-4-1) will look to win back-to-back games for the first time for the NHL’s newest franchise. Seattle defeated the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, 5-1, covering on the -1.5 puck line for the first time in team history.
Philipp Grubauer (3-3-1, 3.28 GAA, .883 SV%) will be in between the pipes. Grubauer allowed just one goal on 24 shots faced in the win over Montreal.
Neither team’s nickname ends in an “S”, but which team will end this game with a “W”: the Wild or the Kraken?

Wild vs. Kraken Odds and Total
Moneyline:
- Wild -109
- Kraken -101
Puck Line:
- Wild -1.5 (+210)
- Kraken +1.5 (-250)
Total: 6 (Over +105/Under -125)
Wild vs. Kraken Prediction and Pick
The Kraken are still looking to get their sea legs, as evidenced by their negative six goal differential. Grubauer has to step up in the net. Seattle is allowing 27.9 shots against per game (4th-lowest in the NHL) but have failed to keep the puck out of the net.
The Kraken could also help their offense by winning more face-offs as well, winning at the dot just 46.7 percent of the time (28th in the NHL).
Minnesota’s offense has been steady so far this season, and their top line of Kirill Kaprizov, Joel Eriksson Ek, and Mats Zuccarello have been strong. Unfortunately, they won’t be able to do it all every night, and the depth on this team is not the most intimidating.
I believe Seattle will get it done tonight at home in a close contest.
I’m taking the Kraken on the moneyline at -101.
