The Minnesota Wild have lost two-straight games. and they have a tall order infront of them tonight if they intend on stopping the skid. The Wild hit the road to take on the red-hot Oilers, who have won five-straight games and have climbed up to the third spot in the Pacific Division.

The Wild took down the Oilers 4-1 on December 7th. Can Edmonton exact revenge on its home ice tonight?

Wild vs. Oilers Prediction and Pick

I'm still not a believer in the Minnesota Wild. Their high shooting percentage and strong goaltender play has cloaked subpar play in terms of possession and creating high danger scoring chances. Shooting and save percentages tend to be more volatile, and we may finally be seeing some regression to where their level of play should truly be at.

Meanwhile, Mike Smith has returned between the pipes for the Oilers and he seems to be rounding back into form. He's had three-straight strong performances, and should be in for another one tonight.

The most promising sign for the Oilers is that they rank 11th in high danger scoring chances over their last 25 games. While that's not an amazing mark, that'd good enough to let their high-powered offense go to work and generate wins. During that same stretch, they rank fourth in expected goals per 60 minutes (3.31), while the Wild rank 20th (2.72).

I'm going to ride the red-hot Oilers tonight.

Pick: Oilers -105
