Will Luka Doncic Build on Mavs Playoff Triple-Double Record in Game 2?
By Peter Dewey
Luka Doncic has played in seven playoff games in his young career and all seven have come against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Dallas Mavericks star forced Los Angeles to six games during the 2020 playoffs, and he helped the Mavs take Game 1 of this year’s series with a 31-point triple-double. Doncic is averaging 31.0 points, 9.9 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game in his playoff career, and he’s already totaled three triple-doubles in his first seven appearances.
I’d say he’s pretty good at the game of basketball.
Tonight, Doncic has an intriguing player prop on WynnBET, as his odds to record a triple-double in Game 2 are set at +300. WynnBET’s projection on Doncic’s points (28.5), rebounds (7.5) and assists (9.5) signal that he has a chance to get another triple-double tonight.
While the rebounds are Doncic’s lowest projected total, the over (-140) is favored to the under (+105). In his seven playoff games, Doncic has grabbed less than eight rebounds just one time.
At +300, Doncic’s triple-double prop certainly is enticing given his knack for stuffing the stat sheet in his career. The No. 3 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft has 36 career games with a triple-double including 11 this season. He’s even better in the playoffs, as he’s had just one game where he didn’t total seven or more assists.
Other than that outlier performance, Doncic has totaled at least seven rebounds, seven assists and 13 points in every playoff game he’s appeared in. After playing nearly 41 minutes in Game 1, it’s possible that Doncic will be in line for a similar workload as the Mavs try to go up 2-0 before heading home to Dallas.
Being guarded by Paul George and Kawhi Leonard certainly is a drawback to Doncic’s odds of tallying another triple-double, but he’s already torched them multiple times over the past two seasons in the playoffs. I like Doncic’s chances of capitalizing on those tasty +300 odds in what should be another great game between the Mavs and Clippers.
