Trevor Bauer has been making waves both on and off the mound, as the Dodgers pitcher wanted people to know that he is the “reigning, defending, undisputed” National League Cy Young winner after Friday night's win against the Giants.

While he is still behind deGrom (+400) on the latest list of odds at WynnBET to win the Cy Young, Bauer has been making a strong case for himself and could be a good bet at +700.
Bauer, who won the National League Cy Young with the Reds in 2020 before signing with the Dodgers during the offseason, has been putting on another phenomenal season. Through his first 10 starts, Bauer boasts a 1.98 ERA, a 0.77 WHIP, and he’s striking out an average of 12.4 batters per nine innings.

Despite those numbers, Bauer is still deservedly behind deGrom on the odds list as the Mets ace is putting together a season they may end in both a Cy Young and an MVP award.
One of the things that you have to love (or hate) about Bauer, is his effort to try to make baseball fun again. His in-game antics, post-game comments and social media presence is all in an effort to make people watch the game, which you have to admire. Unless, of course, you’re one one of those Tony La Russa types, who is still clinging on to the dated unwritten rules of baseball.

If you can put aside his smack talk, the race for the National League Cy Young will be entertaining to watch throughout the rest of the season.
With Bauer’s loud and obnoxious demeanor, he's the perfect rival for deGrom who is by all accounts quiet and humble.
Sports are always better when there are rivalries and storylines to follow, and Bauer against deGrom may go down as one of the most entertaining plot lines in recent baseball history.
