Will Zalatoris Can Secure PGA Tour Membership With Win At Colonial
By Peter Dewey
Will Zalatoris will get another chance to secure his PGA Tour Membership this season at this week's Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
Zalatoris has seven top 10 finishes in 2021, and he finished second at The Masters in early April. WynnBET currently has Zalatoris’ odds to secure the win at Colonial at +2200, which is tied for the sixth-shortest odds in the field.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to no PGA Tour cards being awarded in 2020-21, but Zalatoris had taken advantage of a U.S. Open exemption and finished tied for sixth in the 2020 edition of the event.
His play has allowed him to ascend into the top-50 of the Official World Golf Rankings, which earned him exemptions at the WGC-Workday Championship at the Concession, WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and Masters Tournament.
While Zalatoris has all but locked up his PGA Tour membership for next season, he still won't be able to compete in this year's FedEx Cup Playoffs. That is, unless he can win a PGA Tour event within these next few months.
He’s certainly played well enough to be in position to do just that at this week's Charles Schwab Challenge, as only Colin Morikawa has gained more strokes on his approach shots to the green this year.
Zalatoris finished tied for eighth at the PGA Championship this past weekend, and certainly has some momentum after shooting a final round 70.
If you believe that Zalatoris is finally ready to break through and capture his first win, +2200 may be the best you’ll get him at before the Charles Schwab Challenge tees-off on Thursday.
