William & Mary vs. Valparaiso Prediction and Odds: Beacons Will Cruise to an Easy Win and Cover
By Matt De Saro
The William & Mary Tribe are off to one of the worst starts of any college basketball team this season. The Tribe has just one win this year over the Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels who are playing in their first season as a basketball program. So, not the stiffest competition on the schedule. Take that cupcake off the schedule and the Tribe is on an 0-11 run to start the year and look like a team lost before they could ever get going.
The Valparaiso Beacons aren’t having that much better of a start but compared to the Tribe they are championship material. The Beacons are 6-6 after their first 12 games and are coming off a 67-55 win over Eastern Michigan. The win was their fifth in seven games and the team appears to be perking up after losing four of their first five games of the year.

William & Mary vs. Valparaiso Prediction and Pick
The Tribe is led by the sophomore duo of Connor Kochera and Ben Wight. Combined the pair are averaging 22.7 points per game and 11.1 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, that is about all the quality talent that the Tribe has to offer and they rank 338th out of 350 teams in terms of points scored per game. They have an abysmal assist to the turnover rate of 0.696 and are losing games by an average of 15.1 PPG. There really are no bright spots on this team right now and I think the Beacons roll right over them here.
Valparaiso will win this game on the back of its defense which, while not great, is good enough to shut down the Tribe. The Beacons lead the MVC in turnovers and won’t be giving many extra chances to the Tribe to keep pace. Based on the fact that the Tribe has won just one game this year against a brand new program, they are not to be trusted to cover even a spread as large as this one. It’s worth noting that the Tribe is also 0-10 ATS in case you had any doubts on just how bad this team is.
Pick: Valparaiso -14 (-115)
