In Wednesday night Eastern Conference NBA action, the Washington Wizards hit the road to take on the Detroit Pistons at the Little Caesars Arena.

The Wizards are struggling lately and have lost three games in a row. The losses dropped their record to 14-11 and they are now tied for fourth in the East with the Miami Heat.  Bradley Beal led all scorers in their recent loss with 34 points while Daniel Gafford chipped in eight rebounds and 14 points in the road loss.

The Pistons, on the other hand, are in the early stages of a complete overhaul of their franchise. They are using Cade Cunningham as their foundation and the recent No. 1 draft pick has had his moments to shine early on. The Pistons, however, are struggling mightily with a 4-19 record and haven't won a game in their last nine tries. It is only a matter of time until this team meshes, but until then, they are a risky bet.

Wizards vs. Pistons Prediction and Pick

To me, it’s obvious who the better team is but I am not pumped about laying chalk with the Wizards in this spot. The Wizards are just 1-6-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last eight games on the road and 2-6-1 in their last nine games overall.

This is a clear sign to me that they have a habit of underperforming and not closing out games. On the other side of the coin, the Pistons are a very strong ATS team despite their terrible W/L record. The Pistons are on a six-game ATS win streak and are overachieving in the eyes of bookmakers.

Jerami Grant has been playing better alongside Isaiah Stewart, but they are young and inconsistent as well and we’re beaten but a very bad Oklahoma City Thunder team on Monday night. I think that if the Wizards are going to get back on track this is the game to do it in. While I don’t love this play, it’s the better side of this coin to be on.

Pick: Washington Wizards -5.0 (-110)
