WNBA Playoffs: Aces, Sky Look to Take Commanding 2-0 Leads
The Chicago Sky don’t care that Jonquel Jones won MVP or that the Sun were the No. 1 overall seed. All they care about is beating any team in their way, which they did on Tuesday night to open up the WNBA Playoffs.
The Sky upset the Sun in Game 1, winning 101-95. Chicago was a 7.5-point underdog and cashed on their odds on the backs of Candace Parker and Allie Quigley. Tonight, the Sky are back in Connecticut for Game 2 and are even larger underdogs than in Game 1. If Chicago wins tonight, they’ll have a commanding 2-0 lead heading back to Chicago where it can close out the series for good.

Sky vs. Sun Spread, Odds and Over/Under
Spread:
Sun: -8.0 (-110)
Sky: +8.0 (-110)
Moneyline:
Sun: -350
Sky: +265
Over/Under: 155.5 (Over: -110/Under: -110)
Pick: Vegas is backing the Sun to have a rebound game and I am too. It’s hard for me to see the Sun getting swept, so I’ll take them at home to tie up the series.
Mercury vs. Aces Prediction, Spread, Odds and Over/Under
Spread:
Mercury: +6.0 (-110)
Aces: -6.0 (-110)
Moneyline:
Mercury: +215
Aces: -270
Over/Under: 170.5 (Over: -110/Under: -110)
The Aces had to grind out a win in Game 1 against the Mercury, but were ultimately able to defend home court. With the Mercury’s experience, putting them away won’t be easy, but the Aces can certainly withstand the Mercury’s best punch.
Game 1 wasn’t about the stars for Las Vegas, though. Riquina Williams scored 26 points -- which led the team -- and Kelsey Plum scored 25 to power Las Vegas forward. If the Aces can replicate that performance and get normal contributions from their stars, watch out.
Pick: I’m taking the Aces to go up 2-0. The Aces’ depth shined in Game 1 and now I expect their starters to do their part. Phoenix has the “GOAT” in Diana Taurasi, but she’s going to be on the brink of elimination going back to Phoenix.
